Setting the Record Straight on Earth Day

Alright...so this is another non-necessarily related post to the original intentions of this blog, but it is so ridiculous that I feel it worth mentioning.

I want to start by wishing everyone a late happy EARTH day. I capitalize Earth because there was some apparent confusion on Twitter yeaterday. Yes, Avatar was released on DVD and blu-ray yesterday, which was very exciting. However, that dis not make it Avatar Day, or Pandora Day. Why, you might ask? The answer is simple...

PANDORA IS NOT A REAL PLACE!

Yes, this can be disappointing, but for those of you having a hard time accepting this, there are alternatives to ending your own life or sinking into a state of complete and utter depression. Earth, while lacking in spinning lizards and floating mountains, is still a great place! Don't lose hope! There are support groups available, should you find a need. However, there are more general implications from this...stupidity...

I went down to the grocery store to pick up the ingredients for meatloaf, still thinking about the Earth Day / Pandora Day debacle that occurred yesterday, when I saw further affirmation that the world has lost its mind.

Ralph's is having an Earth Day sale, commemorated by cupcakes and sheet cakes. Now, Earth day is supposed to be about our planet and how great it is, so logically, the next step should be to honor our planet, which is not really that hard to do in confection form. Shoot, bake a circle-shaped cake, throw some icing on it and call it a world.

However, rather than depicting something even remotely related to Earth I saw these:

Yes...those are Na'vi on the "Earth Day" cakes/cupcakes. Whoever came up with this idea, it's not helping anyone. Not to mention, all these earthquakes might be a sign that Earth is getting pissed at everyone so hyped up over a fictional moon...
